Being an associate group of Sanctuary UK brings in a minimum of £1,000 a year, and anything up to £30,000 if the group succeeds in recruiting enough individual Sanctuary UK members.
But the real benefit is having a Friends-type group which is resourced nationally to stimulate local interest (and indeed the local economy) to the advantage of the local church heritage campaign.
The Parochial Church Council meanwhile is offered worship material and tourism and educational resources to accommodate those who, through the awareness-raising programme of Sanctuary UK, are initially more interested in the building than its primary purpose.
